Left at the Lone Palm

There is a common practice in the Yucatan of marking a specific turn-off by placing bottles, or tires, or other strange items on top of a stick or post and leaving that out by the roadside. This notifies your peeps to do something like...."take a right turn when you see the empty 2 liter coke bottle spray painted green on top of a stick by the side of the road." Somehow this technique does not portray a very romantic description of how to arrive at a desired location.

Just in front our lot on Soliman bay sits a skinny lone palm. It's strangely situated in the middle of the road. Seems like life has decided to go around it. Somehow it got lucky as many things in Mexico just get trampled when in the way. It has seen better days, but still remains holding strong. This palm will serve as our bottle on top of a stick... Just head down the road and take a "Left at the lone palm..." you have arrived at project manana.

Welcome to Project Mañana. This photo was taken while kayaking on a spectacular day. Felt inspired to take it from out on the bay looking back. The area outlined is the basic footprint of the lot, and the future home of the yet to be named eco-boutique casita. Right now we affectionately call it “project mañana”. Hasta luego amigos.
